On Reinventing

I’m often asked what is the most difficult aspect of my life and calling. One of the greatest challenges I’ve ever attempted is a current one…the reinventing of myself, my calling, and my life.

This is particularly difficult because people tend to judge by how they first discover you. It’s as if you can’t become or do anything other than their perception of you. This isn’t a slam to them, but I realized that as long as I stayed on the “opinion-pegging-merry-go-round” of yesterday; it would ultimately slam my hopeful future.

*Success at one stage doesn’t demand to be the only stage.

We have to see that life sometimes requires more of us than we have to give and will demand that we plunge into reinvention so we can truly live out God’s full destiny for our lives.

*Remaining in a past season leads to the detriment of your soul’s future longing.

Reinvention doesn’t mean that you leave your core values or reject a calling or purpose; it simply means that what was successful at one stage of life may either need tweaking or obliterating at another stage.

*Life can end at any time, and it can end more than once. But it can also begin more than once.

For years, I’ve been afraid to diversify, but not any longer. It’s a difficult process, and I can honestly say it’s the hardest thing that I’ve ever done. However, it is the most rewarding because of the new realms and possibilities that can being entered.

*I no longer regard multiple streams of possibilities as a sign of weakness but strength.

My point is… Never be afraid to reinvent yourself. People will always tag you by how they first found you, and it will take courage to reinvent your life and break free from those opinions. We live in a time where reinvention is completely possible, and I’m finding that it keeps my soul from shrinking.

The enemy of reinvention we carry inside is a sluggish sense of guilt.  But letting go of a stage of life that has passed its expiration date is necessary in order to make a fresh start. Release it now! A new day IS now, and God longs to lead us into new realms.
